A 32-year-old woman developed false nephrotic range proteinuria secondary to medication interference and bluegreen discolouration of urine during treatment with methenamine/methylthioninium-chloride [indication and route not stated].
The woman presented at an emergency department with symptoms of urinary tract infection. Over the past two days, she had been taking an unspecified medication, which contained methenamine 120mg and methylthioniniumchloride 20mg as active ingredients. Her urine sample exhibited a strong blue-green discolouration. Her urine culture was negative. Dipstick urinalysis revealed the following results: serum globulin 1.015, pH 7, albumin 3+, bilirubin...
