Abstract

In an effort to take effective measures against pirate attacks revealed the need to develop models which will contribute to increased protection from pirate attacks on ships in areas where there is a high risk of such a threat. Therefore, the use of hybrid time Petri nets made simulation time dynamics of pirate attack on a ship at sea. In the simulation of the time dynamics of events during pirate attacks (Case Study) by using Petri nets have been developed, presented and analyzed the most unfavorable cases of pirate attack on a ship at sea with additional protection of a warship with a helicopter. Three scenarios of pirate attacks on a ship with one, two and three pirate ships have been prepared and analyzed. Such a system in its own nature is very complex. It consists of a continuous portion (Continuous Systems), ie. movement of the attacked ship, pirate ship motion and movement naval vessel/helicopter (change speed, distance), and the Discrete Event Systems, ie. commencing of attack, sending distress. Analyzed the factors that affect the safety of navigation of the ship through the area of increased risk from possible pirate attacks. The mentioned are typical indicators and studied ways of improving the safety in order to finally demonstrate how developed applications time dynamics of pirate attacks leads to the optimal solution of planning navigation ships through the pirate areas.
