HENRYK GRYNBERG, a gifted spokesman for the Jewish cause, graduated from secondary school in Lodz and studied journalism at the University of Warsaw. Grynberg chose freedom in 1967 while touring the United States with Ida Kaminska's Yiddish Theater. In 1971 he graduated with an M.A. in Slavic languages and literatures from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Collected in book form as Monolog polsko-zydowski (Polish-Jewish monologue), these essays had appeared in print before, mostly in "Res Publica Nowa." The range of subjects is broad. In "Przymieszka krwi" (The admixture of blood), Grynberg, inspired by Jadwiga Maurer, deals with the Jewish origin...
