When Eleanor Roosevelt aptly called Margaret Sanger a "woman of valor," she understood Sanger's right to be numbered among the twentieth century's most significant Americans. Her work deliberately engaged all the major issues birth control has come to symbolize: the transformation of the family, gender roles, sexuality, and women's work. It is all the more regrettable, therefore, to see Sanger's life and accomplishments trivialized in this wholly unsatisfying and poorly conceived documentary. The makers of this film are preoccupied...
