A PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH and creative writing at Middlebury College, Julia Alvarez has published three previous novels: How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents (1991; see WLT 66:3, p. 516), In the Time of the Butterflies (1994; see WLT 69:4, p. 789), and iYo!
