Three patients (2 women and 1 man), aged 65-82 years, developed corneal melt during treatment with neomycin/ polymixin-B/dexamethasone [Maxitrol]. The neomycin component of Maxitrol was thought to be responsible for altering the fine balance in the vulnerable ocular surface of these patients.
