For the definition of networking, the author refers to that of Mary Scott Welch, author of the book Networking, as follows: "The process of developing and using your contacts for information, advice, and moral support as you pursue your career." With this introduction, the reader is prepared for an interesting and stimulating book that relates to organizational dynamics and career development and advancement.
The author provides good background as to the manner in which networking has been used by the "old boys" quite effectively since the dawn of business enterprise and how their female counterparts are now dealing with it. How and why nurses have under-utilized networking is thoroughly discussed, as are the concepts/dynamics of this reciprocal process.
