I have always admired Bellow's stories and novellas more than most of his novels. Seize the Day is, perhaps, his greatest achievement. It contains his obsessions with fathers and sons, assimilation, social (often theatrical) performance, metaphorical density. It is good to read a volume devoted to this significant work.
