The history of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) would not be complete without a good biography of Lauris Norstad, NATO's most influential general during the 1950s and early 1960s. Fortunately, Robert S. Jordan, Research Professor of International Relations at the University of New Orleans, has filled the void. Jordan is one of the leading authorities on NATO, so his contribution is especially welcome.
