Abstract

This article examines, from different theoretical perspectives, the characteristics and the degree of interdependence that prevail in current international relations. It argues that the US plays a key role in redefining the "rules of the game" in the international realm, while examining the cultural and institutional basis on which American foreign policy is rooted. Finally, it evaluates the extent in which the US government uses norms and values as instruments to project its influence in current international relations. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
