Milton M. Klein, Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Tennessee, died in Knoxville on June 10, 2004, at age eighty-six. His death brought to an end a long career of distinguished scholarship, service, and teaching.
Born August 15, 1917, in New York City and a lifelong unabashed booster of the city, Milton received the B.S.S. (1937) and M.S. (1939) degrees from the City College and the Ph.D. (1954) from Columbia University. From 1954 to 1969 he taught or held administrative posts at Columbia, Long Island University, and SUNY-Fredonia.
