Oral histories contribute to our understanding of events, people and government; providing historical evidence that is hard to uncover in traditional sources. Research assignments in universities continue to evolve and frequently require students to identify and analyze primary sources beyond newspapers. Libraries can assist with these assignments by exploring Oral History Online created by Alexander Street Press. This database links researchers to national and international repositories along with full-text transcripts of interviews. Oral History Online debuted last year with 7,000 interviews from 850 collections. It is updated quarterly and currently contains over 9,000 interviews.
Users can access the contents of Oral History Online by using the Table of Contents. The Table of Contents provides users with multiple browsing options. Users can browse using the following options: Repository, Interview, Collections, Date, Geographical, Historical Events and All Subjects.
