Out of the blue: Russia's hidden gay literature, an anthology, ed. by Kevin Moss, introduction by Simon Karlinsky.
From the back cover of Out of the Blue, I learned that "blue" is a Russian slang term for "gay." Between the covers of this pioneering compilation, I was immersed in over 150 years of Russia's gay male literature.
Out of the Blue is the first anthology of Russian gaythemed and homoerotic writings in English translation. Given that I cannot read Russian, I am not qualified to assess the accuracy of the translations. However, the biographical information provided about the translators indicates that each of the possesses substantial knowledge of Russian literature.
