Abstract

The article attempts to assess the UK's efforts to combat organised crime. It does this by revealing some qualitative and quantitative descriptions of organised crime provided by the authorities before describing the tools used to combat the problem and the politicians' justification of them. It then contrasts the details of the official discourse with data on the use of these policing tools by the organisation tasked to deal with organised crime in the UK - the Serious Organised Crime Agency.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
