The short but crucial passage from the mock-heroic games in The Dunciad where Dulness awards Edmund Curll the consolation prize of a "shaggy Tap'stry" (II.133-148) is, for Mr. Szilagyi, "a model of rudimentary discourse and of the Dundad's historicism."
