Purpose/Goal
To provide the learner with knowledge specic to developmentally appropriate preoperative care of children.
Objectives
1. Explain the role of the child life specialist.2. Discuss the role of the perioperative nurse in decreasing preoperative parental and child anxiety.
3. Describe strategies for providing developmentally appropriate care to infants, children, and adolescents.
4. Describe strategies for providing care to children with developmental delays.
Accreditation
AORN is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation.
Approvals
This program meets criteria for CNOR and CRNFA recerti-cation, as well as other CE requirements.
AORN is provider-approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 13019. Check with your state board of nursing for acceptance of this activity for relicensure.
