Primary Education is one of the Fundamental Necessities of Man and Education There are so many problems in Primary Education in Meerut Mandai discussed below:
Natural Problems
India is a land of villages. More than 70 percent of the population reside in villages. People in villages have not yet been provided with proper educational facilities. Teachers do not like to work in schools of difficult geographical surroundings. Hence natural obstruction has come in the way of expansion of primary education.
Political Problem
After independence the Indian Government became keen to spread primary education throughout the whole country. It has been provided in the constitution to make primary education free and compulsory. The policy followed by the government for the expansion of primary education had been incapable in view of the laid down purpose. There is no mutual co-operation in the various government departments. Work of primary education has been entrusted to local bodies i.e., to municipal boards, district boards and down areas. These local bodies do not cooperate with government officers appointed for looking after primary education. All the local bodies are not able to free themselves from local and regional politics.
In these circumstances there is a great need that the public and government should co- operate with the effects of the local bodies and education should be freed from all sorts of politics. Then only primary education will expand.
Social Problems
Untouchability, class and caste differences, narrow religious beliefs, conservation, illiteracy, communalism, neopotism and jealousy are some of the black spots on our society. People of different castes, religions and communities want schools just to educate their own children. At some places children of Harijans and the down trodden are not admitted to schools. Children of Hindus caste do not like to mix up with the children of Harijans studying in the same school. Some conservative parents do not send their daughters in co-educational schools.
In these circumstances social workers and efficient government officers should be initiated to establish personal contacts with parents for the removal of above social evils.
