Stephen Manning's Quebec: The Story of Three Sieges combines accounts of Wolfe's famous siege of 1759, the French effort to retake the city the following year, and the unsuccessful American assault of 1775-1776. While written as a popular history, the author made good use of published works, inclliding the most recent scholarship, as well as primary sources from the National Army Museum in London. This research enabled him to give a description that, while adequately detailed, avoided minutiae, providing the reader with a useful account of these important eighteenth century campaigns.
