Real Estate Valuation Principles & Applications by Kenneth M. Lusht. Published by IrwinMcGraw-Hill, Burr Ridge, Illinois, 1997, 480 pages, $39.96, hardcover. This book covers the appraisal process well and is written in a comfortable, conversational style. It also presents great examples and uses expressions like "lumpy curve" that everyone can understand, not technical jargon.
Studies and published works are listed in support of the discussions and presentations, but most of the references are old. This does not make them wrong, but it does make you wonder why there is nothing more current.
Each chapter ends with a good summary and a series of questions and problems. Just to keep your attention up, only the odd-numbered solutions are included in the appendix. The questions and problems give you an opportunity to test your skills and understanding of the material covered-a great way to learn.
The problems and demonstrations within the chapters are also helpful. They give enough detail to get their meaning across, and the examples are...
