GENERAL APPRAISAL
The Mita DC-4090, a 40-cpm copier, gave a remarkable reliability performance during its 165,000-impression BLI evaluation, with only one PM visit required and no misfeeds recorded. Relative to other Segment 3 models, the DC-4090's strengths, described more fully below, include several useful optional accessories and quick first-copy times.
In addition, the DC-4090 earned the unit BLI's highest rating in every category. In fact, testing revealed that the density of the solids produced by this unit is among the very best for copiers tested to date. In addition, the DC-4090's methods for adding toner and paper are intuitive. Moreover, when compared to other units in this speed range (35 to 45 cpm) tested to date by BLI, the DC-4090 offers efficiency rates that are competitive in all copying modes. The unit also offers quick first-- copy times of 4.4 and 4.2 seconds from the RADF and platen, respectively.
Among its other strengths, there are several standard or optional features of the Mita DC-4090 not commonly available on other Segment 3 units: (1) The optional auto stacker that attaches to one of the optional 20-bin stapler sorters (AS-S5120) enables the unit to automatically offload stapled sets, thus clearing the stapler sorter's bins for the next job; (2) An optional online hole-punching accessory that can also be attached to the same optional 20-bin...
