Richard Girnt Butler, founder of the nation's most virulent white supremacist group, Aryan Nations, died in his sleep this past September. He was 86 years old.
Butler, often called America's elder statesman of hate, was a fervent admirer of Adolph Hitler. He told the world that Hitler had the courage to "lead the fight for the life of our race." Butler believed that Jews were the descendants of Satan and that blacks and other racial minorities were inherently inferior to whites. Butler called African Americans "mud people."
