Chris Agee, in his introductory essay to Scar on the Stone: Contemporary Poetry from Bosnia, proclaims all the writers of this collection "citizens of Bosnia," doing away with the categorical names which religion and ethnicity commonly provide people from the Balkans. Indeed, the poets are unified in their disdain for the faulty information transmitted by language, even the language of poetry. While they are bound by the limits of language, they are nonetheless sustained by its rise.
