Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents the results of the implementation of a contingency load shedding system based on the MQTT broker, designed to address potential disturbances in the 46KV ring-shaped subtransmission system of Eléctrica Quito. Each substation is equipped with a LAN network that houses primary equipment monitoring and control devices (lEDs), all connected to a WAN network. Failures can include overloads on lines between substations and transformer shutdowns, which can affect the hydraulic generation of the power plants. [...]a load shedding system has been implemented using Weintek equipment connected to industrial gateways, where the information for the contingency logic of the lEDs is obtained according to the IEC 61850 protocol.
