As we prepare to celebrate NAON's 20th anniversary in Denver, we will be reflecting on the past...how far we have come as an organization, our individual accomplishments within the association and yes, the many friendships we have made and the fun times we have shared. As I begin my term as your 20th president, I have chosen the theme Soaring To Greater Heights as we prepare NAON for the new millennium.
Over the last 19 years NAON has indeed put down roots. Roots don't hold us back - they support, enabling us to stand tall. However, as we applaud the past, we also must move forward. Associations are like the eagle. If we do not move forward, we will not create the aerodynamic momentum required to soar. The same is true in our personal and professional lives. As I share with you my thoughts about NAON's future, I encourage you to think how these principles apply to your own personal and professional growth.
To create the momentum necessary to move NAON well into the 21 st century will require mission-driven motivation. Motivation is the high octane fuel...
