This book is an excellent introduction and guide to social skills training for schizophrenia. It is part of a series of treatment manuals for practitioners and is aimed at those engaged in psychosocial treatment of patients with schizophrenia. The target audience could include psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, graduate students, and medical students, traditionally.
Over the past five decades, we have seen remarkable improvements in the treatment of schizophrenia through biological interventions, in particular, antipsychotic medications. Additionally, over the last two and one half decades, improvement in psychosocial interventions through social skills training has occurred.
