The prevalence of adolescents affected by overweight/obesity in Ireland has increased significantly in recent years, with current data indicating that nearly one in four Irish adolescents are living with overweight/obesity1. Obesity is a multifactorial disease strongly influenced by environmental, social, and behavioural factors, with adolescents highlighted as particularly susceptible to the effects of social and environmental determinants of obesity2. The aim of this research was to examine associations between various social and environmental factors with risk of excess %body fat amongst adolescents in Ireland.
