SIU Carbondale is a Carnegie doctoral research extensive public university with a diverse student population of over 16,000 students from throughout the United States and over 100 foreign countries. The department of University Housing is a 39 million dollar operation consisting of over 4,000 bed spaces, apartment and residence hall communities, academic initiative programs including expansive Living-Learning Community programs, and a self-operated dining service.
