It was not until the beginning of the 1990s-apart from a few exceptions-that the books of the twelve minor prophets began to be read as a literary unit. Throughout the 1990s, the field witnessed groundbreaking work that resulted in the seminar entitled "Formation of the Book of the Twelve" at the annual meetings of the Society of Biblical Literature.
