Regina audiences loved Cheatin' Hearts, a new musical play by Paul Ledoux and David Smyth and directed by Robert McQueen. In Saskatchewan, where country music is, for many, a way of life rather than a fad, Cheatin' Hearts was considered an unexpected treat. At intermission, the audience was smiling as though they were leaving a bar after enjoying a good brew and a great band.
Three female country singers, has-been Kelly Connors (Beverly Elliott), ambitious Danielle Ducharm (Paula Boudreau) and illiterate Linda McGee (Jennifer Foster) form a group called "Daddy's Girls" and struggle to make it big in the country music business. They are aided and then double-crossed by Bobby Curtis (Andy Maton) a burnt-out country music bar owner who becomes their manager.
