Abstract

Continuous electrical transcranial stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive method, widely studied in recent years, which allows modulating cortical excitability. A first approach to this method dates back to the 1960s, but despite some encouraging results, tDCS has never obtained recognition for clinical use. A renewed interest in the clinical and physiological effects of tDCS has recently taken place with the new acquisitions of physiology and pathophysiology of the central nervous system and with the ideation of new techniques to study brain activation.
