Transformational leadershipThe impact of its behaviors on manufacturing strategy
Employees play a major role in helping to secure a competitive edge for their organization. The need for effective human resource (HR) development is therefore self-evident.
When it comes to improving performance, leaders invariably hold the key. Performance is inevitably affected by change. Leaders are therefore charged with the responsibility of helping the workforce understand the impact of change and how the organization should respond.
What is transformational leadership?
Transformational leadership has become all the rage in recent times. This leadership style:
helps to clarify organizational vision;
empowers employees and actively encourages them to take risks;
advocates the seeking of alternative solutions to workplace challenges; and
inspires employees to attain objectives.
Positive interpersonal relationships provide the foundation for this brand of influential leadership. Communication is king too. The "transformational" aspect refers to the aim to equip employees with the confidence and ability to adjust and become more innovative in their approach to work.
Four different dimensions are incorporated into this leadership concept:
Idealized influence : This relates to the leader as a role model who leads by example by demonstrating ethical behaviors. Leaders also exhibit bravery through taking risks and making difficult decisions.
Inspirational motivation shows the leader clearly communicating expectations to generate commitment among employees toward the shared vision. Challenging individuals can stir them into action.
Intellectual stimulation : The emphasis here is on enabling employees to question current organizational assumptions and explore different ways of working and resolving problems.
Individualized consideration : Which reflects the personalized way in which the leader engages with employees. In addition, influenced by this characteristic...
