Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the social and territorial impacts that tourism generates in the National Park Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Insurgent (Mexico), in order to propose strategies for environmental conservation. Therefore, the communality was used as framework for analysis of the impacts on the territory, resources, political structure, economic dynamics and cultural elements. The results determined that the tourism has a significant impact on biophysical and socio-political elements; therefore, it is essential to formulate strategies for environmental conservation which allow continuity to the ecosystem services and improve living conditions for the local population.
