On March 19, the UK Finance Bill became law as the Finance Act 1997. Important new features include: 1. provisions to attack schemes to access high bought-in foreign tax credits survived intact, and 2. consortium relief rules have been amended to avoid doubts on availability of UK loss reliefs in joint ventures following Steele v EVC International NV.
