The Assistant Dean is a full-time academic professional staff member in the Student Assistance Center in Office of the Dean of Students in the Division of Student Affairs. The responsibilities of the position are centered on our mission to support the academic and social development, as well as the retention of University of Illinois Students. Assistant Deans provide assistance to students (and families), faculty and staff on a walk-in, by phone and via e-mail communication, who are seeking information, guidance and support about a range of student related academic, health, behavioral and personal issues. The Assistant Dean serves as liaison to colleges within the university and various campus offices for the purpose of maintaining current information about resources as well as processes and procedures relevant to the most prominent/common needs of Illinois students. The person in this role may also participate in outreach activities to help students acquire knowledge and skills which will enhance their ability to function effectively in this University community.
