A 31-year-old man developed lymphopenia and leucopenia during treatment with valganciclovir for prophylaxis of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.
The man, who had gunshot injury-related severe facial deformities, underwent a near-total face allotransplant. He was CMV seronegative, however, the donor was CMV seropositive.
