Water wars

Abstract

Some observers believe that this is the harbinger of much worse to come both within and between nations. They point to the burgeoning global population vying for scarce water resources for irrigation, industry, drinking water, and basic sanitation. None other than United Nations (UN) SecretaryGeneral Kofi Annan has stated that "fierce competition for freshwater may well become a source of conflict and wars in the future."
