Kalabagh Dam, awaiting construction for over four decades, is back on the wicket. And surprisingly men from Sindh and Khyber, viewed as its two big opponents, are also part of the team. They want it built as it would substantially improve life and economy in both provinces. They want it built before Bhasha, Dasu and Nai Gaj dams up in the north.
This came out loud and clear at a seminar in Lahore (November 23) jointly organised by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Lahore Center of Institution of Engineers Pakistan and Sindh Tas Water Council.
Engr. Shamsul Mulk, ex-chairman WAPDA and ex-chief minister of Khyber, and the most famous pro-Kalabagh engineer and public figure was scheduled to be the principal speaker but he could not actually come to the session because he had to sit with PM Nawaz Sharif till late in the previous night. So the gathering had to be content on his telephonic speech only.
