The CPA Clubs of America is a concept begun by stockbroker William Rhame of La Jolla, California, who for $3,000 gives exclusive rights to a broker to operate a CPA Club for a list of up to 400 CPAs in a given area. The purpose of the CPA Club appears to be for the broker/owner to get referrals from CPA members.
In an article in the April 1989 Registered Representative magazine, the concept of the CPA Club is explained, and founder William Rhame "credits his entire production to CPA referrals." According to Rhame, "Competition among CPAs for new clientele is very heavy, and they typically don't know the first thing about building their business."
