The mystery about The Whirlwind War is why the 1991 manuscript was not updated before publication. Having no bibliography, with no footnote citations later than 1992, and ignoring controversial issues, this book only assists specialists in army operations, adding details to materials in the Office of the Army Chief of Staffs Certain Victory (1993) and the Defense Department's Conduct of the Persian Gulf War (1992).
The Whirlwind War emphasizes the United States Army's renaissance since 1973 in adopting new doctrines, equipment, training methods, and organization. The changes, however, were not clearly proven in Operation...
