I enjoyed reading about Joel M. Leibsohn, M.D.'s experience with Whitnall 's ligament for eyelid suspension in severe blepharoptosis in the April issue of Ophthalmic Surgery.
I have used this procedure in approximately 40 eyelids with poor levator function over the past 5 or 6 years, and I would like to emphasize that the condition of Whitnall 's ligament as found at the time of surgery is a crucial factor in deciding whether or not to do a Whitnall's sling or a frontailis suspension.
