Rebecca Copeland and international scholars who contributed translations and/or chapter, introductions are to be commended for presenting provocative essays about the reception of women writers of the twentieth century, especially for use in the classroom. Following an introduction by Copeland, the volume is divided into six chapters and back matter, consisting of a glossary of names and terms, bibliography, recommended further readings, notes on contributors and an index. A disclaimer states that the organization of the essays in near chronological order does not represent an ideological progression, though they may appear to do so because similar arguments continue to flow into current critical discourses.
