In the April 1 supplement on High-Speed Technologies, "The Twisted Path to ATM" {page 8} was, in my opinion, a one-sided view of the available options for high-speed networks. The article neglects to point out the technical merits of competing technologies, including 100VG-AnyLAN. For example, 3Com Corp.'s David Flynn commented that 100VG-AnyLAN lacks "critical momentum behind it. There's not enough vendor support." That's an out-of-date marketing message from a 100 Base-T vendor. He conveniently overlooks the momentum and support 100VG has been picking up, especially from 100 Base-T vendors such as Cabletron and Chipcom. Hewlett-Packard's goal is to let customers make their own high-speed network buying decisions based on superior technology, not marketing hype and misinformation.
