"This is the urban assault vehicle," remarked my wife as she climbed into the driver seat of General Motor's newest sport utility vehicle. She was referring to the Abramstank look and feel in a vehicle that's aimed squarely at modern life styles. These are economically good times for the U.S. and the Denali (about $43,000) is intended to help us struggle through them with a vehicle that's as useful as the GMC's Yukon and as luxurious as a Caddy. This up-scale roustabout has a bulletproof appearance, leather seats, and powerful V8 that let owners attend a rodeo or ballet and never look out of place.
A few auto reviewers might make the obligatory remarks about it driving like a car. Well, yes and no. You certainly won't need any retraining, but after a few miles you'll know you're not in a car. Accelerations and corners are taken slower, you ride high off the ground, and it bounces a bit more than a car...
