I was eager to get a shot at Audi's A6 Avant because my own commuting vehicle is a station wagon. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, it's hard finding much to fault on the Avant. The only caveat is that it isn't big enough to hold a third row of seats. (Though there is an optional rear-facing children's bench for the back that is removable.) Storage space in the back of the car can be expanded by folding down the rear seats. Several conveniences have cargo in mind, including a partition net between the luggage area and occupant compartment, multiple tie-downs, and a rear-luggage cover.
But it would seem a little weird to use this obviously elegant chariot for hauling paint cans and bird dogs. The A6 Avant is a $38,350...
