Adding any one of these three software-based solutions to your connected copier or MFP can make it even more versatile.
While we're on the topic of "The Best of the Best," we've identified three cool solutions that can add value to your digital copier or MFP and make it even more functional. The following three third-party solutions are already widely used in an array of small and midsize organizations and are well worth further investigation beyond the brief descriptions provided here. Many manufacturers also offer their own homegrown solutions that are designed to work with their specific products. The sidebar includes an example of a cool new vendor-specific solution that we found particularly impressive.
SOLUTION #1: ECOPY SHARESCAN OP
WHAT: eCopy ShareScan OP document imaging and distribution software makes it easy for any office worker to securely scan paper-based information at the MFP into any business application that can access PDF files or other popular image formats. It works with e-mail, document management, fax, cost recovery, and other enterprise applications. The software is designed for use with digital copiers and scanners, although it's only compatible with devices from select equipment manufacturers.
HOW IT WORKS:
ShareScan OP requires an eCopy ScanStation along with a PC, which is provided by eCopy. ShareScan OP offers a common user interface no matter what hardware device or brand of device the user is connected to, so users see the same interface and experience the same workflow from the device as long as they're using the eCopy software. One of the advantages of this strategy is that many organizations still have multiple devices from different manufacturers, and a common interface requires less user training because it's the same interface no matter what the platform.
