Hotel construction continues to boom in the Central Business District, with another extended-stay hotel set to join the downtown landscape this year.
Plans filed with the city show an entity known as St. Charles Ave. Prime Properties LLC wants to build a 19-story, 238-room Residence Inn extended-stay hotel at 316 St. Charles Ave. The proposed Marriott-branded hotel is bounded by St. Charles Avenue, Camp and Gravier Streets and a pedestrian mall known as Commercial Place. Construction could start by the summer.
The hotel would be located on a surface parking lot next to the Intercontinental Hotel. A staff report by the Board of Zoning Adjustments indicates that it would offer 182,000 square feet of space with a public bar and lounge, meeting spaces and a fitness center.
