An award-winning actor...a noted children's concert performer who has appeared at Carnegie Hall...a best-selling children's book-John Lithgow has done it all. Lithgow, a featured speaker at the 51st IRA Annual Convention, says his children's books were a natural outgrowth of his concert performances for kids. He realized that orchestras wanted an educational program, so he wrote about Farkle McBride, a young musical prodigy who tries many instruments before realizing his real love is conducting.
Lithgow wrote the story in verse and then realized that it would make a great children's book. Simon & Schuster agreed, and The Remarkable Farkle McBride was published in 2000. That bestselling book has been followed by other titles such as Carnival of the Animals, I'm a Manatee, Micawber,...
