Dell is back in Austin - Adam Dell, that is.
The 30-year-old younger brother of Michael Dell, chairman and CEO of Dell Computer Corp., plans to open an office in Austin for his 1-year-old venture capital firm, Impact Venture Partners LP. The Austin office will be firm's first outside New York City, its headquarters.
Mike Rosenfelt, founder of Austin's Powered Inc., will head Impact's Austin office with Satin Mirchandani, most recently vice president of business development at Austin's pcOrder.com Inc. Powered recently changed its name from notHarvard.com Inc.
Rosenfelt and Impact executives declined to comment about the Austin office, including an exact location.
Venture capitalists say Impact's arrival in Austin brings muchneeded West Coast and East Coast connections to Silicon Hills.
"What they do is bring a strong set of contacts outside of the Austin, Texas, market, which is badly needed for many companies being funded in Austin today," says Bob Fabbio, managing partner of TL Ventures, which has teamed up with Impact on several deals, including Powered.com.
