NovaStor's in-house backup service offers speedy, cost-effective performance
FOR IT MANAGERS WHO want to run in-house backup services without breaking the bank, NovaStor's NovaNet Web, Version 2.0, is well worth considering. This online backup service runs on a modest server, and the software costs less than four months of using an online backup service.
Several companies offer online backup services, including Atrieva and Connected. (See our reviews of Atrieva Anywhere,Version 1.0, and Connected Online Backup Center, Version 3.0, at www.infoworld .com/printlinks.) Services such as these allow PC users to back up their computers from just about anywhere. However, many IT managers want to move backup services in-house, in an effort to help reassure their supervisors concerning the safety of the company's data.
Unfortunately, the prices of these in-house systems have typically been quite high. The software is expensive and so are the servers running the software. This is what makes NovaStor's NovaNet Web 2.0 - at $4,195 for 100 users - all the more interesting.
