Members of the former LTV Steel Salaried FCU, which lost its only sponsor late last year, have a new financial home. The $2.8 million CU has merged with Community United Credit Union in Strongsville, creating a $6.3-million institution.
"We knew toward the end of last year that they were looking for a merger with another credit union,'" said Joe Crawfis, manager of CUCU. "I called to see if we would be a potential partner. We were larger than they were, but still small enough to give their members the same kind of service they had there."
LTV SSFCU served salaried employees of LTV Steel Mill, which officially shut down in December after a federal bankruptcy judge approved its request for Chapter 11 protection.
